Resolutions vs. Intentions – From Doing to Being

Intention- The Path to True Transformation

As the new year approaches, it is the perfect opportunity to reset, refocus, and tune in to new potentials. It is a beginning filled with infinite possibility. For many it starts with making resolutions. What would I like to achieve or change in 2025? The year is fresh with dedication and determination, but as time progresses the commitment to the resolution fades. Gym sessions dwindle, journals remain unopened, and meditation mats sit empty. The resolve we felt in January becomes a distant memory.

Why does this happen?

It’s not because we lack the desire to grow or the discipline to change. Resolutions often fail because they are focused on what we want to do rather than who we choose to be. True transformation begins with choosing what you would like to experience and then living as if it were a reality now. Intention is the extraordinary power of self-awareness and moment to moment shifting into a greater state of being. Intentions are expansive and connected to your higher self. Instead of striving you are aligning, and this alignment unlocks the creative energy of the universe.

Let’s explore the power of starting your year by combining resolution with intention.

Discovering the Profound Differences

  1. External vs. Internal Focus
Resolutions focus on external goals, the actions we plan to take or the experience we aim to achieve. But intentions are centered in the heart and are shaped from within. They are about being rather than doing.  For instance, instead of resolving to lose weight, set the intention to BE living in your ideal body- full of vitality, joy, and self-love. Imagine how you would think, feel, and move if you already existed at your ideal health. By aligning your inner state, the external steps flow naturally, and the world begins to mirror back the energy you hold within.
  1. Future vs. Present
Resolutions are something we are going to do. This means the fulfillment of the goal will be achieved at a future point. Intentions are centered in the present moment where all change and transformation happen. It is in this place that you are connected to a field where all possibilities exist. When we embody the energy of what we desire as if it’s already here we align with the creative force that shapes reality.

  2. Separation vs. Wholeness
To have a goal means you are separate from the achievement of it. This is often coming from a place of disconnection and dissatisfaction.
” I want to lose weight to feel better about myself.”
“I want to save more money because I want to travel.”
“I want to go to the gym to get healthier.”
These statements focus on what we don’t have, leading to feelings of separation and scarcity. Intentions invite us to live as if our desires are already fulfilled. They dissolve the illusion of separation and instead shift our focus to the gratitude of already having. This state of being grateful is a magnet for the full realization of the experience.

  3. Short-Term vs. Lifelong
Resolutions often have expiration dates such as by the end of the year. Intentions are a continual journey of becoming. They are a beautiful quest of evolving and growing.

Same Resolution, Different Result

The balance rises from combining both intention and resolution. Always start with intention as it forms the energetic blueprint for the experience. Once the internal state is created the external circumstances will more easily flow to you. Here’s a true story of the power of intention-

I have two friends that are both incredible writers. They are masters with words and at shaping captivating stories. Each set a goal to write a book. My first friend wrote her outline and strategically crafted each chapter. She was disciplined and dedicated, which resulted in her book being completed in just a few months, way ahead of schedule. After it was published, she immediately received book sales from her family and closest friends. But then her story sat idle, and she struggled to market and gain her audience. The unsold copies still fill her shelf, gathering dust and disappointment.

My second friend imagined what it would feel like to be a bestselling author. She brought the experience to life in her mind and in her heart daily. She cut out the best seller list and wrote the name of her book at the top, then she taped it to a wall that she walked by each day. She lived as a bestselling author continually tuning into the joy she felt from touching countless lives through her words.

She too was disciplined and finished not just one, but four books. Against all odds, the miraculous began to happen for her. The perfect publisher came into her life. Offers and opportunities showed up in the most awe-inspiring ways. She achieved being #1 on the bestseller list, not just once, but 4 times!

The goals and physical steps were the same, but the results were immensely different.

The Magic of Intention

Intentions go beyond goals; they are a way of being. When you set an intention you are tuning into the energy of your highest self. It is not about striving or forcing. It is an extraordinary practice of aligning. This shift from trying to allow, from separation to wholeness, from the future to the present- is where the magic happens.

Intentions lie at the heart of the ALLTRUEistic app. Every day, people come together to meditate, visualize, and contribute to collective intentions. They are reprogramming their minds, aligning their hearts, and shaping a new way of being. The beauty of this practice is its ripple effect. As you evolve into a greater version, you create waves of transformation in the world around you.

Living with Intention

Living with intention means approaching each day as an opportunity to become conscious of your thoughts, your emotions, and your actions. It is a moment-to-moment practice of self-awareness and embodying the discipline to continually shift your state. It is about who you are being and the knowingness that your energy is connected to the collective.

To start the practice-

Choose what you would like to experience in 2025.

Imagine that the experience is already a reality. Bring it to life fully in your mind and feel it in your heart.

Connect to who you would be if the experience was true now. What would you think? How would you feel? How would you show up in the world?

Enter the state of being and bring it to life as if it were already a reality before the experience shows up for you.

The Paradox

The art of intention requires us to hold a beautiful paradox: living as if our desires are realized while navigating current circumstances that may seem to contradict them. How do we embody abundance while managing limited financial resources? How do we radiate peace while processing past pain?

The key lies in understanding that reality follows consciousness. Just as a best-selling author can exist before the first book sale, your chosen state of being can precede its physical manifestation. The ALLTRUEistic platform provides daily support for this practice, offering tools to:

  • Create intentions that resonate with your highest truth
  • Anchor these new states of being through multi-sensory experience
  • Connect with a global community in shared coherence to amplify energy
  • Contribute to the collective field of human evolution

The Ripple Effect

As Dr. David Hawkins wisely noted, “In this interconnected universe, every improvement we make in our private world improves the world at large for everyone.”

Through ALLTRUEistic, your personal journey of intention becomes a fractal of global transformation. This daily practice becomes a ceremony of becoming while contributing to the collective transformation of humanity.

The new year invites us to grow and enter into new ways of being. Will you join us in the practice of intention, where personal transformation meets collective evolution? The future is not something that happens to us—it’s something we intend into being, one conscious choice at a time.
